PATROL DEPUTY
Under the supervision of the patrol sergeant and the patrol corporal, the deputy is expected to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work which includes controlling traffic flow, enforcing State law and local regulations, performing comprehensive criminal investigations, special assignments, and other duties as directed by the Sheriff. Deputies will patrol the county, prepare search and arrest warrant affidavits as needed, and serve civil papers.

Summary:
Manages court documents and provides reporting data to the State of Colorado, the District Attorney's Office, as well as County and District Courts. Responsible for ensuring that all weekend (Friday through Monday, which may include holidays) court and booking paperwork is sent and received during weekend court. Must be able to work within standard office procedures to achieve the required outcomes within established timeframes with the resources available. The employee must be able to exercise good judgement and diplomacy while maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, verify, and evaluate existing systems if applicable
- Oversee that all weekend bookings are sent to the appropriate court
- Work closely with detention staff to ensure that proper entries are made in the RMS system
- Process any restraining orders from the court system on weekends
- Respond to inquiries and requests for more information from both internal and external sources under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) as required
- Ensure that financial, legal, and/or administrative requirements and regulations are complied with
- Follow data protection protocols

Detention / Dispatch Corporal
Performs inmate supervisory work in jail detention areas. Work leader for jail detention/dispatch staff. Acts in limited supervisory capacity for jail detention/dispatch staff as needed. Detention / Dispatch Deputy

DETENTION DISPATCH SERGEANT
Trains, assigns, schedules, supervises day-to-day operations and formally evaluates the work of detention/dispatch deputies. Participates in jail operations as required. Inspects the jail for proper security and supervises the proper maintenance of jail facilities. Assists in establishing and implementing systems and procedures for the booking, care, detention, release and transport of prisoners.
Requirements include HS diploma or GED, minimum 21 years of age, two years of work experience in a jail system requiring daily supervision of inmates, background check and drug test, valid Colorado driver’s license upon employment, current first aid/CPR certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.

ROAD and BRIDGE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I
The primary job is driving a truck but operates various pieces of equipment proficiently as needed. Operates heavy equipment for digging, opening ditches, grading shoulders-slopes-rough grading. Clearing right-of-way, trenching, filling, back filling and snow removal. Operates asphalt equipment, loads and places sand, earth, rock and asphalt among other duties.
Requirements include High School Diploma or GED; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A CDL Class A HazMat and Tanker Endorsement Driver's license is required.

Child Welfare Case Aide / Child Care Technician
This position provides Child Care Technician (CHATS) services to eligible recipients. Maintains records on current day care center rates and policies, determines eligibility, assesses fees, and makes referrals to licensed day care vendors. Additionally, technicians record case action, file incoming paperwork and correspondence, work with licensed applicants, recipients, and others.
Position requires a high school degree or General Education Degree (GED); in addition, one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employments Benefit Unit Case Manager / QA Technician
The Employment Case Manager is responsible for ongoing case management. This position requires a thorough knowledge of TANF rules and regulations and other assistance programs. The Employment Case Manager will complete an ongoing assessment to determine the needs of the family and the individual and will make appropriate referrals. The case manager and the participant work together in developing a “Road Map to Employment” identifying strengths and challenges which results in a detailed plan of action to meet these needs, set goals, and find necessary resources to meet the goals.
The Quality Assurance Technician conducts monthly case reviews per program regulations. Conducts site visits to but is not limited to day care facilities, residences, employers, financial institutions, EBT vendors, etc. Reviews, applies and discusses changes in program regulations. Reviews activity reports on a regular basis. Takes appropriate action on report information, including but not limited to requesting case changes, contacting other County, State, or Federal entities, and requesting additional information from a variety of sources. Participates in eligibility meetings as scheduled regarding rules, procedures and processes. Participates in County policy maintenance.

Land Use Code Compliance Inspector
The Land Use Code Compliance Inspector performs duties related to the enforcement of the Rio Grande County Land Use Development Code and Building Codes. Performs inspections of vacation rental properties and maintains records relating to vacation rentals. Performs field verification of building setbacks. Maintains address and zoning permit database and assigns new addresses and issues agricultural building permits. Assists with building construction inspections as assigned.

The Rio Grande County is seeking a Treasurer Clerk. Peer Support Specialist Recruitment
Rio Grande County Public Health Agency – Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP)
Position Summary:
RGCPHA is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to join our Byrne State
Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP). This full-time position provides support to individuals in
crisis by drawing on personal lived experience with recovery from behavioral health challenges,
substance use, or crisis situations. The Peer Support Specialist will work alongside mobile crisis
response teams, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community partners to connect people in
need with timely, person-centered services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide peer-based support, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals experiencing crisis.
• Assist mobile crisis response teams with de-escalation, stabilization, and follow-up care.
• Connect clients with behavioral health, substance use, healthcare, housing, and recovery
resources.
• Share lived experience appropriately to build trust and foster recovery.
• Maintain documentation in compliance with confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
Qualifications:
• Must have lived experience with recovery from a behavioral health condition, substance use
disorder, or crisis (minimum one year sustained recovery).

Summary:
The Youth Outreach Specialists will be part-time contractual staff who will work closely with
youth and peers for outreach and support and will collaborate with community agencies to improve
participation in the program’s goals and empower community prevention efforts. The Safer Streets
Grant/Program goal is partially to build youth peer support and build youth engagement, therefore
candidates will ideally be of high school or early college student age, have reliable transportation and
access to a computer/internet and be willing to travel to meetings around Rio Grande County.

Position Summary:
The Weed Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing weed management operations across the County lands, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role promotes environmental stewardship, leads part-time and seasonal crews, and coordinates with agencies and landowners to implement effective strategies for weed prevention, control, and eradication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates in accordance with CRS Title 35, Article 5 and Article 5.5, including enforcement provisions such as authorized entry when required.
- Patrols fields, roadways, and landscapes to identify noxious weeds and determine land ownership.
- Contacts landowners (private individuals, government agencies, and ditch companies) regarding the presence of noxious plants and recommends appropriate treatment methods; communicates clearly and respectfully to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Negotiates and manages spraying agreements with public and private entities.
- Prepares service documentation and supports budget planning and monitoring.
- Collaborates with CSU Extension, Colorado Department of Agriculture, federal agencies, and legislators.
- Develops and delivers community education programs and tours with HOAs, civic groups, and landowners.
- Writes articles, updates the Weed District page on the county website, and manages social media to promote weed and pest control awareness.
- Oversee maintenance of vehicles and other equipment.
- Provides regular reports and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and Rio Grande County Pest Advisory Committee.
- Works with the Chief Financial Officer for Rio Grande County and the Pest Advisory Board in preparing budget recommendations and monitoring expenditures to ensure proper and efficient management of funds.

SUMMARY:
The Rio Grande County Assistant Airport Manager supports the operations and maintenance of the county airport. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding airport operations and security. Provides a safe operating environment for both transient and based aircraft. Works with the County Road & Bridge Department in providing services to maintain airport facilities and equipment. This is a part-time position expected to work no more than 20 hours per week. The position is non-exempt (i.e. eligible for overtime pay) and an 'At Will' employee. Daily time sheets will be required to identify work committed to airport operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Airport Manager with airport operations including the oversight, inspection, and maintenance of Jet A / AvGas fuel facilities, on-hand fuel quantities; monitoring and reporting fuel-related information to comply with local, state, and federal requirements
- Collect and provide a variety of aviation data to assist the Airport Manager in safety and compliance requirements
- Enforce Airport Operation Policies and Procedures, and Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions
- Assist the Airport Manager in maintaining and improving the airport's physical premises through a vigorous continuous improvement plan including pilot shelter facilities, runways, fuel and electrical systems, security systems, fencing, gates, and signage
